Target Audience

This seminar addresses issues most relevant to experienced mental health professionals who wish to expand treatment expertise through development of hypnotic skills.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:
1. Understand what hypnosis is and how it may be applied in clinical practice;
2. Be able to identify and apply principles of hypnotic induction and suggestion;
3. Recognize cases in which hypnotic techniques may be indicated or contraindicated;
4. Be aware of ethical-legal issues and standards for professional conduct in using hypnosis clinically.

Continuing Education Credits

This seminar is approved by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis to fulfill the educational requirements for membership in the Society and earns 20 credit hours which may be applied toward ASCH certification in clinical hypnosis.

Psychotherapy Associates is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. 20 hours will be issued. Psychotherapy Associates maintains responsibility for the program.

The Nebraska Division of Alcoholism, Drug Abuse and Addiction Services has approved this seminar for 20 CE hours for alcohol and drug abuse counselors. Approval number is 04.004.

This seminar meets criteria of an approved 20 hour continuing education program for Nebraska Licensed Mental Health Practitioners; Iowa Licensed Psychologists; Nebraska, Kansas and So. Sheralyn Cox, Ph.D.

Sherry earned an MSW in 1973 and a Ph.D. in 1984. She has maintained a private psychotherapy practice since 1974 and has obtained specialized post-graduate training in hypnosis and the treatment of dissociative disorders. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, the International Society for the Study of Dissociation and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is certified in clinical hypnosis by A.S.C.H., for which she is also an approved teaching consultant.

Registration

In compliance with American Society of Clinical Hypnosis training guidelines, this seminar is limited to 50 participants. Registrations will be accepted in order of receipt.

Pre-registration is $250.00 Late registration is $275.00. Payment may be made in cash, by check, or via VISA or MasterCard.

Registrants are advised that small group practice is structured to allow each participant an opportunity to serve as a hypnotic subject and as the facilitator of hypnosis under the supervision of a clinician experienced in use of hypnosis.
