Target Audience

This seminar addresses issues most relevant to experienced mental health professionals seeking to increase expertise in psychotherapy of treatment-resistant Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other difficult-to-treat chronic post-trauma disorders.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:
1. Understand the etiology, types, signs and symptoms of chronic post-traumatic stress;
2. Recognize the role trauma history plays in development of personality disorders and treatment-resistant affective disorders;
3. Be able to identify and develop a treatment strategy for the patient with a complicated post-traumatic stress disorder;
4. Be aware of how to avoid common treatment errors and complications.

Sheralyn Cox, MSW, Ph.D.

Sherry has maintained a private psychotherapy practice since 1974 and has obtained specialized post-graduate training in trauma disorders. She is a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders, and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. She is certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, for which she is also an approved teaching consultant.

Continuing Education Credits

Psychotherapy Associates is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. 11 hours will be issued. Psychotherapy Associates maintains responsibility for the program.

This seminar meets criteria of an approved 11 hour continuing education program for Nebraska Licensed Mental Health Practitioners.
